My long term vision for Meeting Sprout is to penetrate into the small business market. Businesses would be able to post important events, coupons, and store hours on their calendar. Users could then search a business, see this information, and merge it with their personal calendar to see times they would be available to attend the business. We would charge the businesses a monthly fee to keep their page open, serving as our main revenue stream. To attain this, we would require a large active user database built up from previous years.
We would offer the business an API that allows them to see the most popular times that people are available, and this would serve as the revenue driver. We also could offer the business other market research information such as how many page hits per day. With this data, the business could staff and have hours of operations appropriately.
What concepts were covered in class this week?
ReplyDeleteThis sounds interesting but it is limiting businesses too only work certain hours which might change depending on customer participation. i would depend to much on customers to show their best availability dates. It might give the customers to much power and customers might consider this a breach of their privacy.
ReplyDeletemaybe if you focused on putting more workers during those peak available times while still having a set hours of operation, would work better. there are still a lot of people who are new to computers and how to use the internet to its full capabilities.
This is a great idea! Companies are always looking for a way to grasp consumers. Also, this provides a cheaper alternative to reach a younger audience--online ads on popular sites are very expensive. Your idea allows a company to look at important data that is greater than just looking at sales records. Your idea opens companies to consumer info that can change their business model through reviews of their product, consumer availability, store hours, hot times to sell, etc.
ReplyDeleteIf you use students as a medium to start your business, you will build your large user database. Businesses will then be attracted to your site and its business opportunities. If your user database is large enough, you can even reel in some big businesses like a Best Buy.
Overall, this is a fantastic idea to allow companies to grab the attention of young consumers.
